Branch Activities - 2006

Our celebrations of the Patron Saint of Scotland were held at the Naval Complex in downtown Quebec City on the 25th of November. To our surprise, Ted who is an officer of the local garrison of the 78th Fraser Highlanders was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

The Toronto St. Andrews Ball is a grand ball at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Over 800 people participate in the formal meal followed by a few hours of traditional Scottish Country Dancing. Ken attended for the second year in a row.

We were present at the Quebec City Cultural Days, held on October 1st at the Morrin Centre.

This was a weekend long festival held in Old Quebec, complete with Whisky tasting, clan information tables, music and gaelic presentations. Also on the agenda was a great Celtic Concert to wrap things up on the Sunday evening .

Ted, Louise and Ken were present for the Fergus Highland Games for the third consecutive year in a row.

The North Lanark Highland Games are held on the shores of the Mississipi river (not the one you are thinking of) in the charming town of Almonte which is located just west of Canada's capital Ottawa.

This was our first presence at these small but well run games by the shores of Lake Ontario.
